One of the most important decisions a person, business, organization, team, etc. can make is deciding the problems they solve and then executing on solving them. Your value is determined by the problems you solve. For example, one problem we help organizations solve is adopting Microsoft 365 (M365) and other technology after it is successfully implemented. Adoption is a costly problem because organizations often pay for multiple applications that do the same things as the M365 subscription that they're already paying for, or team members get frustrated with new M365 technologies they're asked to use but aren't trained or taught to use effectively. This leads to decreased productivity, rework, setbacks, and even turnover. Our clients are committed to solving this adoption problem, but don't always know the best path to doing so. The Outlier Team quickly assesses their environment and offers tools and training to overcome the adoption problem in a few different ways. First, we offer monthly group training on Microsoft 365 applications such as SharePoint, Planner, Teams, OneDrive, etc. This allows clients to learn what they're paying for and follow our curriculum to design and implement their own adoption plans. Second, we work directly with clients to train and coach them on their technology and directly help them create adoption plans alongside them to get the desired results. This is a 6+ week mix of courses, one-on-one trainings and meetings, and coaching sessions. Third, we work alongside clients day-to-day to drive adoption in their organization and teams. We work alongside leaders and fill in for leaders to create adoption strategies plans for organizations for several months. With these three different programs, we are able to help organizations fully adopt Microsoft 365 and other technologies, ultimately making teams more productive and less frustrated with work. What problems do you solve? How do you solve them? PS: Is your team struggling with adopting technology after it's implemented? Are you unsure of what you are paying for? "Why are so many people in this meeting?" I remember asking myself that question after attending a 90-minute committee meeting early in my career. Before that role, I had worked with an organization that was intentionally reducing the number of meetings employees attended. Meetings became shorter. Agendas became clearer. When a topic required deeper discussion, only the people who were directly involved met afterward. At the time, I assumed that was normal. Then I joined another organization...
Organizations often miss out on ROI because they struggle with using technology. Not because of lack of availability or training, but because of lack of adoption processes. One of the most effective ways we’ve seen organizations enhance adoption and increase technology usage and ROI is by building a Systems, Automation, and Technology (SAT) Committee. What is a SAT Committee? A SAT Committee is a cross-functional group made up of: Power users (the people who live in and are experts with your...
The last couple of weeks we have talked about pull systems and how to set them up in Microsoft Planner. This week, let’s discuss how to decide what work needs to be done next. When deciding what to work on next as a team, it’s important to assess strategic alignment, business value and return on investment, technical feasibility, resource availability, risk profile, stakeholder support, timeline/urgency, and regulatory and compliance areas. One can do this by considering the following...
